If The Trees Could Talk is an exciting, new storytelling and performance project with the LGBT+ community in South Derbyshire and beyond that creates a series of original ‘fairy tales’ exploring their relationship with the trees, the wood and nature. They are open to your ideas and interpretations about the theme. This project is in partnership with Derbyshire LGBT+ and they strongly welcome and encourage applicants from the LGBT+ community and diverse backgrounds to apply.
What they are looking for: People Express is looking to commission an innovative artist, story-teller or company to gather stories from up to 6-8 consultation workshops, from the local LGBT+ community of all ages. You will need to work with the partners to co-ordinate sessions. The artist will then create a performance of new and unique fairy tales based on and inspired by the stories, to be shown at Timber Festival 2019 (Winner of Best New Festival 2018 at the UK Festival Awards) and other local events.
“We are looking for a friendly, high quality artist(s) with participatory experience with excellent performance skills. Previous experience of working with the LGBT+ community would be desirable. You will need an enhanced DBS certificate and public liability insurance. Delivery of the commission is May- July 2019. You will need to be available during Timber festival (5-7 July) and the performance will take place on Saturday 6th July. Session times are negotiable but need to work for the participants involved. “
Their budget is £3,500 to include session delivery, VAT, travel, equipment and materials.
