To celebrate its 20th anniversary, on 21 June, the Dramaturgs’ Network (d’n) launched the d’n Dramaturgs’ Contract Package, which comprises a recommended contract and accompanying documents for engaging freelance dramaturgs.
It is a historic moment in the UK theatre profession: although dramaturgs have been working in the UK since 1963, this is the first time a fair contract and remuneration document has been created for them by a professional organisation.
The Dramaturgs’ Network’s plan is to encourage widespread use and feedback during the subsequent six months then create and release a revised package in February 2022.
