Opportunities – Pick of the Week: The Search For Blue presents ‘Hello my name is… Festival’ – submissions now open!

Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.

This week’s pick: The Search For Blue presents ‘Hello my name is… Festival’ – submissions now open!

Description: Hello, my name is… festival is a week-long theatre festival for the socially and politically underrepresented, which will be produced by The Search For the  Blue in June 2019. The festival is produced in conjunction with CentrE17, located in Waltham Forest, London’s Borough of Culture for 2019.

They are currently looking for straight plays, comedies, devised pieces about urgent and under-represented work in contemporary society with a running time of 55-70 minutes to include in the festival.

What’s so great about it?  We’re keen on opportunities which are inclusive and accessible for all and this festival is about championing the absent voices in London theatre and shedding a  light on deep-seated problems or side-lined issues in today’s society.

Not only is it a brilliant opportunity for the underrepresented to get their work performed at an exciting London venue (in the London borough of culture 2019, no less), selected writers also get a box office split, a production fee to subsidise costs , half a day of technical rehearsal, 2 performance dates and times, free marketing, complimentary industry night networking event invites with free refreshments, and a dramaturgy session.   So, this is definitely an opportunity which puts supporting playwrights at its’ heart and we reckon you should get your work into them quick sharp (you’ve got until 25th March!) Good luck!
