In Motion Theatre Company seeking Scotland-based writers for collaborative project

In Motion Theatre Company are seeking Scotland-based writers for Draft, a new writing development event for fresh ideas. They are looking for writers interested in developing new work in an intensive, collaborative environment.

They are looking for unseen extracts of 15-20 pages in length with no more than four characters.

How it works: They’ll select four 15-20 minute extracts from writers with new ideas in development and a desire to explore their next draft. There’s no set theme, they’re simply looking for as-yet-unseen work with strong dramatic potential.

Their tried and tested method places first draft ideas in the rehearsal room, allowing writers to see their work on its feet, explore unanswered questions and be inspired by fresh interpretations.

Selected writers will be invited to meet with the In Motion TC team prior to the event itself. The focus here is for writers to discuss the inspiration and ambition for their work, as well as the questions they’re looking to answer through the DRAFT process.

On the day of the event, each writer will be joined by professional actors and director Jordan Blackwood to stage a reading of their extract.

The day will culminate in staged readings of four new extracts to a public audience. Audience members will be asked to share thoughts on each piece, allowing writers to leave with feedback and hopefully an idea towards the future development of their work.

The next DRAFT will take place on Thursday 19 October at 19:30 in the bungo, Glasgow.

How to apply: To apply, send your extract (which should be in PDF format), and submission form, which can be found here,  to info@inmotiontc.co.uk.

Deadline: 5 October 2017
