Opportunities – Pick of the Week: Nouveau Riche seeking shorts for a The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill themed scratch night

Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.

This week’s pick: Nouveau Riche seeking shorts for a The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill themed scratch night

Description: To celebrate Nouveau Richés new residency at the CLF art Cafe Peckham, they are kicking off with their new flagship scratch night Nouveau Nights.  Nouveau Nights will focus on The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, taking the themes of this iconic album to the stage.

They want to hear from talented writers to write 5 to 10 minute monologues or short scenes around the themes of the album. The scratch night will take place on the 14th of June at the CLF art café Peckham at 7pm.

What’s so great about it? Every now and then, we come across an opportunity unlike one we’ve seen before – and we’ve yet to see a scratch night inspired by an album! The album in question, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, is 20 years old this year (say what?!!) so revisiting it might spark a bit of nostalgia for times gone by or your misspent youth! (and if you’re one of our younger readers and have never heard of it, it’s worth checking out).

This opportunity isn’t just a bit of fun though, it’s actually a great opportunity to allow yourself to be inspired by a brief and to have your work performed at a London venue by an exciting, new, creative movement, headed by a team of professional artists! You’ve got until 24 May to send your work to them.
