Pitch your play at the Theatre Royal Haymarket

Masterclass is once again offering you the opportunity to have your play staged as a rehearsed reading on stage at the Theatre Royal Haymarket! Applications for this year’s Pitch Your Play close at 5pm on Friday 27th February 2015.

Pitch Your Play is an initiative that Masterclass introduced in 2013 and is designed to offer an exclusive opportunity to showcase the work of emerging talent in our West End venue whilst inviting a selected industry audience. A team of writers, directors and producers aged 17-30 can apply and the script must be a new, unpublished piece of writing.

“At a time when funding to the arts and new writing schemes continue to be slashed the support of a major theatre is invaluable. It can inspire, motivate and if lucky deliver the next generation of playwrights. Everyone needs the carrot to keep them writing and projects like these are it.” Abi Morgan – writer and past Master

How it works: Pitch Your Play invites you to pitch a new play to Masterclass. Three successful pitches will be given space and admin support for 4 weeks at Masterclass HQ and access to the Theatre Royal Haymarket stage for a week (Mon-Fri) in order to produce, rehearse and stage the reading, culminating in an exclusive opportunity to showcase your work to an invited audience.

The script must be a new, unpublished piece of writing.
Who can apply: A pre-existing team consisting of a writer, a producer and a director aged 17-30. All necessary performers will be filled through Masterclass members aged 17-30.

How to apply:

1. A short synopsis of the play
2. A hard copy of the first 30 pages*
3. A covering letter (no more than 1 page) explaining:

• Why we should pick your play and why you want it staged
• What you hope this opportunity will offer you
• What your long term plans are for the play
• In an ideal world where you see the play being produced

*Please note if your application is longlisted we will then ask for a copy of the entire script. We will accept hard copies only of your script. Electronic copies will not be accepted. You can submit your hard copies via post to Masterclass, Theatre Royal Haymarket, 18 Suffolk Street, London, SW1Y 4HT or drop them off at the Theatre Royal Haymarket Stage Door.
