The BRIT School looking for a playwright to write graduate production

The BRIT School are currently looking for a playwright for their graduate theatre company The Bridge to write their 2017/18 production.

The project: The Bridge Company is a training initiative run by the BRIT School’s Theatre department on a professional theatre model. Student’s work towards a qualification in arts management and the vehicle by which they develop these skills is through the production of a play written for them by a professional playwright and directed by a professional director. The project is supported with a grant from the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation.

The playwright will initially work with the company and the director 1 day a week to workshop the development of ideas. There will be 14 students on the course and the final piece will be 70 mins in length. The piece will have a run in London of up to 3 weeks.

What they are looking for:  a writer who has had experience of writing a piece in response to a workshop process and also has experience of working with young people or training actors.

Fee: Inline with ITC recommendations for a 70 minute play

Time frame: 

  • Sept 2017 – Jan 2018 Workshop/play development 1 day a week
  • Feb  – April 2018 Play development/rehearsal 1 day a week
  • May – July 2018 Intensive rehearsals and performances.
