Matchstick Theatre looking for new writing submissions

Matchstick Theatre are a small independent theatre company, set up in late 2015 and based in South East London. They are located in a new arts and theatre space, the Matchstick Piehouse in Deptford. They seek to make provocative, entertaining, unusual theatre for audiences in South London and beyond. They’re currently looking for new plays to produce in 2020 at their home venue, Matchstick Piehouse with a running time of 60-90 minutes by playwrights who meet one of the following criteria:

  • By a writer who lives in South London
  • By a writer who identifies as working class
  • Tells the story of a place not usually seen on stage

How to apply?

Send a script (telling them which of the above criteria you meet) to literary.matchstick@gmail.com, along with the following info:

  • Name, where you live, contact details, brief writing bio, 100-word synopsis
  • (If responding to criteria 3) please also answer the question: what is the place and why have you written about it?
