The Sussex Playwrights’ Club has renamed their annual writing competition the Constance Cox Playwriting Competition; they are now accepting entries. (Note: All their playwriting competitions are listed on the same page, so you may have to scroll down a bit to find all the details.)
What to submit: A stage play on any theme, up to 60 minutes in length and with a maximum of six characters. Plays submitted must not have been previously staged, given a public reading, or published.
How to apply: Play scripts should be submitted under a pseudonym, accompanied by a sealed envelope with the writer’s name, address and contact details and sent to: Neil McKellar, 17 Overhill Way, Patcham, Brighton, BN1 8WP, UK.
Entry fee: £7. (SPC members have one free entry.)
What you get: Writers are eligible to win the following prizes:
- First prize: £250 plus a reading of the play at a club meeting
- Second prize: £125 plus a reading of the play at a club meeting
- Third prize: £50 plus a reading of the play at a club meeting
