Screen Yorkshire inviting applications for National Film Talent Scheme – Triangle 2014

Triangle 2014 is a ten month development scheme that will develop new ‘triangles’ between writers, directors and producers within the UK film industry. This national scheme has been managed by Screen Yorkshire for three years and selects applicants who form teams, participate in a series of development workshops and are mentored by industry experts.

Triangle 2014 aims to create new collaborations from across the UK to develop projects the market wants. We are not just looking for emerging talent but also experienced writers, producers and directors who want to work with new partners and get new projects in front of high level film industry professionals.

What happens:  The initial stage of Triangle 2014 involves five face to face days (within two compulsory sessions, one in Sheffield and the other in Leeds) of networking and workshops to build the teams. Some teams will then apply to Creative England’s iFeatures, six other teams will be selected to progress to the second stage of Triangle. After a third residential (held in Sheffield) three teams will make it to the final stages and are supported in developing their first draft script.

Eligibility:  The programme is open to all filmmakers based in the UK, over 18 and not in full time education. The bulk of the programme activity will take place in the North of England, and while support is available towards accommodation and travel costs, the amount is of necessity limited.

What you pay:  There is no application fee.

The selected writers, and the directors and producers who participate in the programme will need to contribute to each phase as set out below should they be selected for the course. This money is required in order to contribute towards the substantial travel and accommodation costs of the programme, enabling us to bring together talent that would otherwise not get the opportunity.

  • Phase 1 – including launch event and seminar £150
  • Phase 2 – including bootcamp and team presentation – £75
  • Phase 3 – including London trip and development materials – £75

Triangle will cover up to £75 of travel costs and provide accommodation as appropriate for attendance at seminars. The first £10 of any travel claim will be at the participants cost.  Please note there is a hardship fund for a limited number of applicants.

What to submit:  Applicants will be asked to submit:

  • CV
  • Personal statement
  • 2-page project outline
  • Script sample (up to 10 pages)

How to apply: Please be sure to read the full set if guidelines (available on their website) before applying.

Applications are made through their online application form.

Deadline:  Monday 16 December 2013
