Freedom Studios will host an 8 week ‘Introduction to Playwriting Course’ this Spring and they would love to hear from creative writers in the area who would like to have a first go at playwriting.
Interested applicants must be 18 or over with little or no experience of writing for the screen or the stage. They particularly welcome applicants from all communities in Bradford and surrounding areas.
In this 8-week course, they will be focusing on the basics of theatre writing including; character, story, structure and plot development, as well as helping writers to develop a tool kit for writing for screen and stage including constructing natural dialogue.
The course will be run by TV and Theatre writer Lisa Holdsworth. Lisa has been writing professionally since 2001 when she won her first commission devising and writing an episode of the ITV series Fat Friends. Since then she has written for Emmerdale, New Tricks, Waterloo Road as well as Midsomer Murders for ITV and Ackley Bridge for Channel 4.She has written for theatre, including pieces for Slung Low Theatre Company, JB Shorts, Take Back and Leeds Pub Theatre. She is the co-producer of the Leeds-based short theatre showcase, Slung Low Shorts.
