The University of Worcester (UW) Theatre and Film Department, is looking for an inspiring playwright or playwrights to collaborate with our MTheatre students on the creation of two new plays to be performed at the Edinburgh Festival in 2019.
MTheatre in Touring Theatre is The University of Worcester’s unique 4 year Integrated Masters in Touring Theatre (MTheatre Touring Theatre) aims to give students the skills and experience they need to establish themselves as independent makers of touring theatre.
The Project : In 2019, the MTheatre students will be heading to the Edinburgh Fringe to perform two new plays approximately 45 minutes in length in repetition, for the duration of the Festival. This production forms a core part of their third and fourth year studies and they are looking for experienced playwrights to collaborate with the students on the creation of those plays. Payment: The maximum budget available for each LOT (commission) is £3,000. This is inclusive of all drafting, workshop and rehearsal attendance plus any associated travel and accommodation costs. The exception to this is for of visits to the University agreed within the Production Schedule (see Terms & Conditions), when travel expenses will be paid at the standard University rate.
Writers may apply for either or both of these opportunities. If you have a preference please indicate this in your application. They are looking for emerging talent playwrights who have had at least one full-length play professionally produced. They are particularly interested in writers who may have similar experience of creating work in a university or drama school context, through collaborative processes.
