From 3-7 May 2022, Putney Theatre Company will be celebrating being back in the theatre with a New Writing Festival.
We will be opening our doors to new playwrights seeking to inspire and captivate a great community at Putney, live on stage.
We are looking for one-act plays with a running time of 45 minutes in any genre. There is no restriction on theme or historical period, however, please avoid any lockdown/Covid-19/isolation pieces, unless entirely necessary for the progression of the piece.
Please write for a maximum of 6-8 actors; it will be a ‘live’ event, so please consider the number of props and costumes. The set will be established to accommodate for all separate pieces. It will be performed in our larger theatre, which seats around 140 audience members.
The deadline for submissions will be Thursday 25 November 2021. Those pieces shortlisted will be taken through two rounds of development, with the final decision on pieces being made in January 2022 for performances in May 2022. We will initially be looking to select four pieces overall to take through to the festival.
