Tuesday 08 March, 7pm
Running Time: 2 hours, via Zoom
This session will be led by Alecky Blythe, whose new play Our Generation will be opening at the National Theatre’s Dorfman Stage this February.
In this session, Alecky will give an insight into her career as a verbatim playwright. Whilst the words and dialogue of most plays are largely imagined, Alecky’s plays are created from recorded interviews with real people which are edited to become the text. Alecky will shed light on this fascinating facet of playwriting, and the specific verbatim technique she employs, through a series of discussions, an exercise and a chance to ask Alecky your own questions. This workshop will be suitable for you if you are interested in incorporating verbatim writing into your own practice, or are just curious to find out more about verbatim playwriting and Alecky’s approach.
Cost: £25
