Pitlochry Festival Theatre launch Writers room

On Saturday 16 February, Pitlochry Festival Theatre will throw open its doors to writers, as part of their new artistic ambition to engage and deepen the theatre’s connection with writers at all stages of their careers.

The WritersRoom has two specially designed spaces at the Theatre. The Tummel Room has been created to offer writers the opportunity to be inspired by PFT’s natural landscape as it looks onto the river. There is also the Reading Room. This is connected to the Theatre’s rehearsal spaces, which will act as a library for writers, as well as another writing space.

These new writing spaces will offer physical support for writers to help germinate and generate stories that PFT’s Artistic Team hopes will find a home in Pitlochry or with one of PFT’s partners like Perth TheatreTraverseLuminateThe TronRoyal LyceumSolar BearHOME, plus many more. Furthermore throughout the year there will be opportunities to learn from other great playwrights and dramaturgs like David Greig and Timberlake Wertenbaker. All these sessions will be free.
