New Writing North: Creative Associates (paid)

Creative Associates, New Writing North

Salary: £26,250 per annum pro-rata (final salary level pending pay review in April 2022) for 2.5 days per week, fixed term contract for 2 years

Writers have a vital role in crafting the stories that shape us. At an exciting time for New Writing North, we’re inviting two writers to work at the heart of our organisation to create new artistic work and be active members of our staff team.

We have no preconceptions about what the artwork(s) you create may be (although it will involve writing in some form); we want to provide you with the time and space to create the work within our organisation. We will provide support in relation to developing the project, producing and disseminating it, but control over what’s created will be yours.

As well as creating your own artistic work, as a member of our team you will attend regular creative and planning meetings, and you will be invited to contribute to decision-making across programmes of work.  This may be in relation to the programming choices we make, the development programmes we have in place, the commissions we offer, and the policies and plans we create.

New Writing North is the creative writing and reading development agency for the North of England. We strive to be a diverse and inclusive organisation.  We aim to empower and enable artists who have been historically excluded to be the artists they want to be without any pressure of representation.  We encourage all writers to apply for this opportunity and particularly encourage writers of colour, disabled writers, LGBTQI writers and writers from a socio-economically disadvantaged background.
