Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: Soho Theatre Writers’ Lab
Description: The Soho Theatre has played a unique and award-winning role in the development of new writing in Britain for more than 40 years. They are now taking applications for their Writers’ Lab.
What’s so great about it? We all know the Soho Theatre is a big name in the new writing world, with a track record for uncovering some of the best emerging writers. So, how would you like the chance to create a new full-length play with them over a 9 month period, with dramaturgical support and classes from the likes ofChris White, Lakesha Arie-Angelou, Holly DeAngelis and Jules Haworth with a number of guest artists involved over the year. Selected writers will be taken through a three-draft process with one-to-onesupport and at the end of the process will submit to the presitigious Tony Craze Award (annual)/Verity Bargate Award (biennial). If you want to give it a go, you have until 4 August to apply.
