Warts and All Theatre seeking writer (paid)

Warts and All Theatre are looking to commission a Writer who has experience of generating a new play With/By/For Children and Young People.

The commission involves a period of research and development, in which the Writer will deliver a series of exploratory and development workshops with Looked After Children in Wellingborough. These workshops will involve developing the content, themes and narrative of the play. These ideas will then be shaped and formed by the writer, into a one act play of 35-45 minutes in length. The writer will use their expertise and craft to ensure the content and narrative of the play is truly co-created in partnership with the young people that have taken part in the development period. The play will then be premiered at Warts and All Theatre’s Young Artists Festival in the Summer of 2020 and performed by the Wellingborough Young Actors 9-13 group.

Fee

The fee for the development period and commission is £3500 inclusive of all planning and travel expenses.

How to Apply:

Writers interested in being considered for the commission should submit:

·       A cover letter outlining their suitability, experience and their reasons for applying.

·       2 previous pieces of work. (These can be previously produced plays, extracts from ‘work in progress’ or previous commissions. – Applicants should note what ‘stage each example is at’ at as part of your cover letter).

·       A brief outline of how they would approach the development period.

·       Two professional references that can demonstrate the writers suitability for the role.

Due to the time frame of the recruitment process, Warts and All Theatre will contact references as part of the application process.
