NEWSBOY seeking short plays about colonisation

NEWSBOY is a new living newspaper which aims to create a space to examine our ideas and feelings about the world we live in today. For the second edition of NEWSBOY they are looking for short scripts exploring and investigating the theme of “colonisation.”  NEWSBOY: “COLONISATION EDITION” will be on at the Tron Theatre, Victorian Bar, Glasgow on Thursday 22 May 2014.

Your script should be inspired by the theme of colonisation and/or one of the following questions:

How does colonisation affect the colonised?
Who are the colonisers?
What forms can colonisation take in the world today?
Can the mind be colonised?
Is there a new corporate colonialism?
What stories are there in the news about colonisation and how are these represented? What is not being reported?

Scripts should not be limited by the above suggestions and can take any approach to the theme, but should be related to events of global, national and local significance. They are looking for rapid response writing, exciting theatre which provokes debate. They welcome scripts from writers of all levels of experience and you can write in any style or genre.
