Applications now open for free training opportunity for any Actor-Writers

WoLab’s Actor-Writer Programme is back and they are thrilled for the first time to be running a Spring course. Funded once again by Arts Council England, and led by industry professionals this 15-week programme is aimed specifically at actor-writers.

Over the 15 weeks, the group will develop their existing playwriting and acting skills through a series of tailored workshops, which will also include mentoring sessions in producing, pitching and fundraising, as well as regular visits from established playwrights/theatre makers within the industry. All participants will be working towards a industry showcase to an invited audience of agents, casting directors, programmers, and producers. Throughout the duration of the course, participants will write their own monologue to perform for the showcase, as well as co-write a duologue with another member of the group. They will receive personalised support and feedback during the process.

Important Dates:

  • An introductory welcome session will be held on 24th March, 10am-5pm.
  • Course Dates: Every Tuesday 10am-5pm, from 31st March – 23rd June.
  • Showcase Dates: 28th and 30th June (Sunday evening and Tuesday matinee performances – venue tbc).

All sessions will be held in London at an accessible venue. You must be available for all sessions in order to be considered for a place. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an audition on either Monday 16th or Tuesday 17th March. You will be notified if you have been shortlisted by 10th March. All applicants will get feedback on their application.
