After the successful launch of our first sessions we’re back.

The short film format is a great place to start your film career and if you can handle fifteen minutes of storytelling assuredly you will be noticed. Join us as we take a look at short film screenwriting and how you can use it to develop your craft and create powerful and moving stories that punch above their weight.

Over 5 sessions you will extend your range as a writer and plan the perfect script. Areas covered include: posing your key question, developing a character, identifying your structure, crafting perfect scenes, handling dialogue, and presenting your work professionally.

Along the way, guest industry professionals with a wealth of film festival experience will offer insights and wisdom.

Covert Firmament has produced work that has appeared at over 100 Festivals across the world. From being hand-picked for Danny Boyle’s Shuffle Festival to screening in Hollywood and recently The Curzon Soho. Course leader Dan Horrigan is also a festival judge in the USA and here in the UK.

Delivery will include screenings, exercises, lectures, and notes. The Sessions will take place on 5 consecutive Sundays over April and May delivered online. Each session is 90 minutes. The cost is £105.

We actively encourage underrepresented writers and discounts are available where there is a need.

The class issuitable for those starting out as well as those working in other discplines looking for a way into film – and will also refresh your practice if you’re looking for a new angle on your work in film.

There are three sessions available on the day 10 am-12 pm, 1pm-3pm, and 7 pm-9 pm places are limited to 4 writers per session.
