This latest Script Room has been specially selected for Richmond’s high-profile Arts and Ideas Festival and so is an exciting opportunity for writers. The show programme needs to connect with the Festival theme which, under the headline title of ‘cultural reforesting’, is described as ‘to explore and interrogate our relationship to nature’. This allows for many different responses and is certainly not meant to be taken as a literal formula for content. So if you have a script that you think will work well in our programme don’t worry too much about how closely it fits the theme: if in doubt submit it anyway. Our priority, as in all our Script Room projects, is to present original and entertaining theatre.
As a guide the play lengths that work best for are normally one act (15 – 20 minutes) or half length (30 – 40 minutes). Fees correspond to the length of the script and are £150 and £250 respectively. We are happy with any cast size up to a maximum of 4: budget realities mean we cannot consider scripts with more than 4 in the cast.
We always invite writers to see their work and for this project we aim to have one Q+A session during the run which we hope writers will be happy to participate in.
