SoulSpire Arts accepting submissions on theme of ‘Crossroads’ for event at The Space Theatre

SoulSpire Arts is back this September 2025 at The Space Theatre in London!

Last Autumn, SoulSpire Arts hosted the SOLD-OUT scratch night, “Roots & Connections,” which showcased a stunning array of talented works that made audiences laugh, cry, and connect through the heartfelt voices of the writers involved presenting their work.

This year SoulSpire are thrilled to present their second scratch night: “Crossroads.”

They are seeking London-based writers who are at their early stages of developing a piece of theatre or creating a new piece of work for stage regarding the theme of “Crossroads”

What are they looking for?

Moments of Decision: Stories about life-changing choices, from everyday decisions to transformative ones.

Themes of Transition and Growth: Pieces reflecting the excitement or uncertainty of change—new beginnings, endings, or turning points.

Diverse Perspectives: We welcome voices from different backgrounds, exploring crossroads through various cultural, generational, or personal lenses.

Broad Interpretation: Crossroads can be literal or metaphorical—internal struggles, emotional dilemmas, spiritual growth, or surreal situations.

Exploration of Change: How do characters navigate crossroads, embrace or resist change, and move through uncertainty?

They are looking for fresh and compelling stories which are authentic, engaging narratives with relatable characters. This could be drama, comedy, or experimental work that emotionally or intellectually connects to audiences. They accept work-in-progresses.

This could be in the form of:

short play/scene (or part of a larger extract)

monologue

duologue

poetry/spoken word

  • Pieces must be no longer than 10 minutes.
  • They will prioritise work that has not been performed off the page yet.
  • Artists looking for a performance space and feedback from a live audience in a post-show Q+A to aid their development and progression of their piece.
  • They particularly welcome artists of the global majority community and those less represented in the industry.

Although this is an unpaid opportunity, artists will have the opportunity to have their work staged in front of a live audience, receive feedback with a post-show Q+A, a recording of their performance, and network with others by participating. Please note: SoulSpire Arts are not responsible for sourcing the actors for the writer’s pieces, but will support in the process of.
