Bristol Old Vic Early Career Writers Programme open for applications

Applications are now open for our 2025-26 Early Career Writers programme! ✍️

At Bristol Old Vic, we want to encourage and support early career writers based in or from the South West to take bold next steps with their playwriting practice.

As part of our Literary Programme, and following a successful first year (2024-25), we are again inviting a group of 4 early career playwrights to take part in a free programme hosted by Bristol Old Vic. It will be led by brilliant local playwright Ross Willis (Wolfie, Wonder Boy) and take place between December 2025 and September 2026.

This is an opportunity for:

✏️ Anyone based in or from the South West who writes and considers themselves to be early career
✏️ Anyone aged 18+ is eligible to participate and there is no upper age limit on this opportunity
✏️ There is no minimum experience required to apply
✏️ There is no minimum education required to apply

If you are interested in applying for next year’s programme, please download the guidance (an easy read version is also available) and get in touch via the application form on our website here: https://bristololdvic.org.uk/for-artists/literary-programme

Deadline to apply is Wednesday 10 September at 12pm – good luck!
