We’ve just launched submissions for our inaugural New Writing Festival, taking place in July 2027, and wondered whether this might be relevant to writers, artists or theatre-makers in your network?
- We’re looking for original short plays from emerging playwrights aged 18 and over who are based in, or studying in, the Northwest.
- Six writers will be selected through open submission. Their work will be staged as part of the festival, and each selected writer will be paired with an established playwright mentor.
- One writer will also receive the Best of Festival award, with support to develop their short play into a full-length production for a future Summerseat Players season.
- Applications are free and submissions close on Monday 3 August 2026.
