Sketchy Muslims are looking for comedy TV pilots and short film scripts written by Muslim writers.
Four winning writers will have the first 15 pages of their script performed at a Sketchy Muslims table read. Our overall winner will also receive feedback on their work from TV comedy producer Malak Aldean, whose credits include Man Like Mobeen and Blue Peter.
You can choose a Standard Submission or a Submission with Feedback, where you’ll also receive notes on your work.

When is the deadline?
Submissions close at 11:59pm UK time on 15 October 2026.
Do I need to be based in the UK?
No. You can submit from anywhere.
Do I need to be Muslim to enter?
This open call is for writers who are Muslim or come from a Muslim background.
Does my script need to be about Muslims?
No. Your script can be about anything. We are looking for comedy written by Muslim writers, but the story itself does not need to be about Muslim characters or experiences.
Is the competition open to both men and women?
Yes.
Can I submit a comedy drama?
Yes.
Can I enter if I have an agent?
Yes.
Can I submit a co written script?
Yes. One writer can submit on behalf of both writers, as long as both have agreed to the submission.
Can I submit more than one script?
Yes. You can submit more than one eligible script, but each script requires a separate submission and entry fee.
What kind of scripts can I submit?
We are accepting comedy TV pilots and comedy short films of at least 30 pages.
How will the scripts be judged?
The first 10 pages of every submission will be read. Shortlisted scripts will then be read in full before the winners are selected.
What do I get if I choose Submission with Feedback?
You will receive one page of written feedback on your script from Sketchy Muslims founder and comedy writer Luna Al-kaisy, winner of the 2024 Female Pilot Club competition and selected writer for the 2025 DLT Entertainment Edinburgh Fringe table reads.
