Opportunities – Pick of the Week: Alfred Bradley Bursary Award

Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.

This week’s pick: Alfred Bradley Bursary Award

Description: The Alfred Bradley Bursary Award is a £5,000 writing bursary to Northern writers new to radio and the chance of a Radio 4 drama commission.

Why is it so great? If you’re a Northern writer who wants to be in with a chance of winning a £5k bursary and the chance to get your work commissioned on Radio 4 then this is definitely not one to be missed! Previous winners include Lee Hall (Billy Elliot, War Horse), Peter Straughan (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Debt) and Cat Jones (Doctors, Waterloo Road) who have all gone on to have huge success across radio, TV and film. Applications for the Alfred Bradley Bursary Award will open on Friday 25th September 2020 so you have plenty of time to get your application together before the deadline on 6 November.
