Made By Mortals seeking writers for Armchair Adventures Podcast series (paid)

Made By Mortals are looking for open and collaborative writers to work on their Armchair Adventures podcast series for children and imaginative older people. Armchair Adventures is a journey of the imagination inspired by older people’s experience, knowledge and passions and expressed through music, drama, movement, spoken word and song. Each episode is framed around the story of 15 year old ‘travel rep’ Connie, and her quest to save a struggling family-run travel agents, using only the power of her and her customers’ imaginations. Each podcast is interactive and aims to connect the generations through creativity and features an actor, an orchestral musician and an extended ensemble of older people (from the community). The series will be launched on the 22nd October 2020.

We are looking for new writers to work with us to make 6 episodes- one a month until April 2020. Writers will ideally have experience of working with community participants, creating work with an interactive element, creating work for audio and children. Writers will be expected to work with a facilitator to open up the creative process through online zoom workshops in-order to ensure that the community participants taking part have every chance to express their imaginations and ideas and see them reflected back at them in the finished work. This process is about empowerment, shared ownership and authenticity and is a fundamental part of Made By Mortals work.

We are committed to diversity and equality of opportunity and particularly welcome applications from those who are underrepresented in the arts sector.

To apply please send a CV and 10 pages of writing that illustrates some of this roles desired experience in action to Paul at paul@madebymortals.org by Thursday 15th October. We would also welcome applicants submitting a 2 min audio/video telling us why you are passionate about this work. The fee for this work is £1200 per episode inclusive.
