Coventry City of Culture 2021: Barriers To Bridges Artist Residency

Barriers To Bridges Artist Residency with West Midlands Police

Coventry City of Culture Trust and West Midlands Police are seeking an artist who can understand the lived experience of children and young people in the city, to work with officers and young people in Coventry as part of a new and innovative approach to tackling youth violence.

We would like the artist to creatively investigate the relationship between the police and young people, and devise a performance piece that communicates what they have learned, and explores the role arts and culture might play in building bridges and breaking down barriers between officers, young people and communities.

The residency will include a research and development phase with the police and young people, and production of a final performance piece that will be shared at CVX Festival, a major event in the City of Culture programme.

After reading the call-out document and understanding the key requirements of the role individuals are invited to submit an application. The submission should include:

  • A written or video application covering the areas detailed in the call out document
  • A CV and portfolio of past work
  • A draft budget proposal
  • A copy of an in date DBS if you have one
  • Two referees
