GO CREATE!
A new arts company in Redbridge is offering support to local emerging artists with 8x £500 seed commissions to present their work at an upcoming festival.
KAHANI ARTS is a brand arts organisation resident at Kenneth More Theatre, Ilford, who aim to support, develop and produce the next generation of South Asian artists and create work that appeals to all.
Together with Kenneth More Theatre, Kahani Arts will be giving eight emerging British Asian theatre makers/artists the greenlight with a commissioning opportunity and for their work to be included within their October 2021 launch programme – KAHANI ARTS FESTIVAL – a weeklong festival celebrating the culture, diversity and voices of the British Asian community in the borough.
This commission is geared towards new/emerging writers, theatre-makers and performers who are still developing their practice or experimenting with their style & form, and don’t necessarily have any concrete ideas for a show but would like to dedicate some time to exploration.
WHO CAN APPLY?
This opportunity is open to creatives from all performance based disciplines including playwrights.
Individuals must be aged 18 years or over and either live or work in Redbridge or the surrounding London boroughs of Newham, Waltham Forrest, Havering, Barking & Dagenham, as well as Essex.
Applicants must identify as South Asian or ethnically diverse, who are currently under-represented in the local cultural sector.
Deadline for applications is 10am Monday 19th July 2021.
