The New Vic in Newcastle is giving aspiring playwrights the chance to see their work performed as part of a major festival of plays inspired by the Staffordshire Hoard.
The Hoard festival, which has been developed in partnership with the National Theatre Studio, will take over the entire theatre-in-the-round for six weeks in summer 2015 when emerging and established artists will create 21 pieces responding to the discovery of the greatest hoard of Anglo-Saxon treasure ever found.
The winning play will be one of 12 Plays at Your Table which will be performed prior to main-house shows in the theatre’s bar and restaurant areas.
What to submit: A play written from the point of view of someone associated with an item or items from the Staffordshire Hoard – the craft worker who made it, the person who owned it, the one who buried it… The play should be five minutes long and written to be performed by one actor.
Deadline: Friday 28 November 2014
