RBL Theatre Company commissioning Henry I play for large scale production (paid)

RBL Theatre Company are to commission a new play based on the life of King Henry I of England. His story is utterly compelling, as is the fact that the play will be produced inside St James’ Church, the presumed burial site of this extraordinary man, before touring.

The play will be on a large scale with very high production values. RBL are looking for an exciting, passionate, fun writer who will enjoy working with classical instruments, voices and electronic sounds/music  created by DJ and composer Benjamin Hudson (one half of production duo Baconhead). Directed by Hal Chambers, the show will also benefit from choreography by Sammy Fonfe and fight choreography from Dani Davies & Mark Middleton.

We would like to hear from writers who enjoy a collaborative approach and who’d thrive on working with a passionate young company aiming to create a play of national significance and quality.

How to apply: Please send an email to Dani and Toby at writers@readingbetweenthelines.co.uk before the end of March with an indication of the play that you would write, a CV and any other information you think relevant.

Payment based on Equity guidelines. Duration to be discussed.

Deadline: 31 March 2015
