24:7 Theatre Festival is now looking for a selection of short monologues to be performed during their Big Festival Weekend (24 – 26 July), in and around The Martin Harris for Music and Drama at the University of Manchester.
Each monologue will have a maximum performance length of 5 minutes and will be performed a number of times over the Weekend. They will be delivered by the 24:7 Players – a mixed group of actors – so feel free to write for any age, ethnicity or gender. In fact, the more diverse the better.
The theme for the monologues is Manchester’s rich heritage of scientific discovery; specifically, people who have made a significant contribution to Manchester in the fields of science and technology. You may be influenced by those honoured on the blue plaques in and around the University campus (information can be found at http://openplaques.org/organisations/university_of_manchester). However, you can write about anyone or anything with a Manchester connection in these fields.
To ensure their monologue is the best it can be, each writer selected will be supported by an experienced mentor throughout the process. They expect each writer to engage through one-to-one sessions or via email/Skype.
There is a fee of £3 to submit your script, and each writer can submit UP TO THREE monologues.
Writers who have had three plays in earlier Festivals ARE allowed to submit.
They particularly encourage applications from artists with diverse perspectives.

Deadline: The submissions window will open on Tuesday 7 April and close at midnight on Monday 4 May 2015. Any scripts received after this date will not be considered.
