The BRIT School and The Bridge company seeking playwright (paid)

The BRIT School are currently looking for a playwright for their graduate theatre company The Bridge to write their 2015/16 production.

The Project

The Bridge Company is a training initiative run by the BRIT School’s Theatre department on a professional theatre model. Student’s work towards a qualification in arts management and the vehicle by which they develop these skills is through the production of a play written for them by a professional playwright and directed by a professional director. The project is supported with a grant from the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation.

The playwright will initially work with the company and the director 1 day a week to workshop the development of ideas. There will be 14 students on the course and the final piece will be 70 mins in length. We would hope for the piece to have a run in London of up to 3 weeks with other performances at festivals or touring outside of London, with the aim that the piece will have the equivalent of a months run.

This year the show has been performed at the Brighton and Plymouth Fringe Festivals and is currently running for 3 weeks at Oval House.

Fee: Inline with ITC recommendations for a 70 minute play
