LMA artist in residence Nick Field will be leading a creative writing workshop based around rare footage from the archive film collections, with specific reference to historic pageantry. Footage will include amateur footage shot at the Lord Mayors Show in 1935 that has been digitised for the first time especially. This workshop is part of Streetlife London, an artistic engagement project at the LMA celebrating the vibrant history of streetlife in London and its cultural significance.
Nick Field, writer and performing artist, is currently in residence at the LMA for an ambitious new arts project, Streetlife London: From Chaucer to Banksy. Nick is exploring the LMA collections relating to the history of London and the cultural significance of its street life. The archive collections are the starting point for discovering the potential for creative engagement at the LMA, and how they can become a source of inspiration, both in creating new artistic works and illuminating and engaging with London’s rich history.
