Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: Tamasha Developing Artists Writers’ Group
Description: Tamasha is currently accepting applications for is writer development programme, now in its second year. The group is designed to provide artistic and logistical support and training for writers from a diverse group of backgrounds, helping them build the skills to write plays and manage projects.
So, what’s so great about it? This programme, run by playwright and activist Fin Kennedy is designed to help writers develop the practical skills needed to sustain a career (including project management, funding, workshop leading) as well as develop as writers. The programme, aimed at emerging writers who have already demonstrated the commitment and experience to write at least one full-length play, is also designed to promote more diversity in the industry, welcoming writers from all backgrounds. If selected, you’ll get tailor-made sessions (although there are weekly meetings, the exactly programme is tailored to the needs and interests of participants) and mentorship that will last for a minimum of six months. Sound good? Be sure to get your applications in by 2nd October if you’d like to participate!
