Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: Stückemarkt 2016: Open Call for theatre plays from all parts of Europe
Description: Stückemarkt 2016 invites theatremakers from across Europe to submit plays that “that deal with the political dimension of narration, question the power structures in our society and open up alternative world views.”
So, what’s so great about it? This is a great opportunity to share your work with a broader European audience. The five selected plays will be presented within the programme of the Theatertreffen, in a format that corresponds with their form – as staged readings, performances, lectures, site-specific formats etc. One of the theatremakers will win a 7,000 euro commission and production of a new work in Germany. (And the founder of the Playwright UK Facebook Group has personally vouched for his good experience with the festival, which is good enough for us!) The application has a few components, so best to get cracking to get your application in by the 1 December deadline.
