The Holby City production team need a Script Producer to manage the Script Department delivering high quality and cost effective drama. This role is a 2 years fixed term contract.
Holby City is BBC One’s BAFTA award winning Medical Drama Series transmitted at 8pm every Tuesday, with an average audience of 6 million viewers a week. The show deals with the professional and personal lives of the surgical staff at Holby City hospital and the patients whose lives they touch.
About the role: Working alongside the Series Producer, you’ll line manage a team of Script Editors and Researchers which will include appraisals, recruitment and managing their day to day performance. You’ll have overall responsibility for ensuring that the editorial quality and vision within scripts is maintained as well as produce and manage the long term script delivery schedules. You’ll chair the weekly meetings with the editorial teams; oversee relationships with key medical advisers and liaise with the Casualty Script Producer to avoid clashes and plan for cross over story beats. In addition, you’ll be the first point of contact for all writers and their agents as well as finding and nurturing new talent.
You’ll be managing the Script writing budget across the series, liaising with the team to ensure that commissions and payments are made making Holby a cost effective production. You’ll allocate writers to particular episodes matching them with the appropriate team members and work with the Story team ensuring the serial storylines are realised to their full potential from commissioning to shooting script. You will also be expected to periodically produce episodes.
