London Playwrights Workshop is seeking directors for the Dark Horse Festival in London Writers Week.
The Festival will share 15 minute excerpts of the five of the best unproduced plays in London, which we’ve sourced from theatre nominations (from venues including the Soho, Almeida, Lyric Hammersmith, and Talawa), writers we’ve encountered through our work, and an open call to the readers of London Playwrights Blog.
If you’re someone who likes working with new writing, this is an opportunity to build links with the most exciting emerging playwrights working in London.
You can read more details about the event and writers here: http://www.
Showing: The Festival will take place on Thursday 7 July 2016 in the Platform Theatre at Drama Centre London. There will be an industry showing at 4pm and a public performance at 7.30pm.
Rehearsal: Each piece will receive one full day of rehearsal (space provided by Stratford East). There will also be time for each piece in the performance space on the day of the showing. Rehearsals will be scheduled between 30 June and 5 July.
Payment: Directors will be paid a fee of £200 (£100/day for two days work) for participating in the festival. There will also be a budget to pay the actors an equity minimum fee for their participation. Funding support is provided by Arts Council England.
Casting: Ideally, directors will be responsible for casting, although London Playwrights Workshop is happy to provide support and suggest performers as needed.
How to apply: Please email darkhorsescripts@gmail.
Applications will be considered as they are received, we’re hoping to confirm all directors within the next week.
