Opportunities: Our Pick of the Week – Bread & Roses Playwriting Award 2016

Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.

This week’s pick: Bread & Roses Playwriting Award 2016

Description: The Bread & Roses Playwriting Award is a prize given to a new full length play. The winning writer will receive £500, production or a rehearsed reading at the Bread & Roses Theatre, and consideration for publication by Lazy Bee Scripts.

What’s so great about it? The Bread & Roses is an up-and-coming fringe venue who have partnered with the Matthew Martino Benevolent Fund to create this opportunity. We think it’s particularly exciting that they’re using this platform to help make strides towards gender equality, specifying that at least half the material of submitted scripts should be female roles. This is a fabulous opportunity for an emerging playwright to see their work onstage, so don’t pass up the chance to have your work considered. You have until 30 September to get your script in – and remember, you need to submit anonymously!

Read the full details here.

Please note, we’ve posted this for your convenience and we’re not affiliated with the organisers of the opportunity.
