Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: Soggy Brass at Southwark Playhouse open for submissions
Description: Velvet Trumpet are looking for new pieces of comedy lasting 10-15 minutes for a Soggy Brass, an evening of comedy at Southwark Playhouse on 27th November 2016. They are looking for stand-alone theatre pieces rather than sketches and work must not have been performed in London within last 3 months. They’re hoping to find writers with a director and cast already attached but if not, they will help pair you up with a creative team.
What’s so great about it? Well, as the weather gets colder and the days get shorter, what could cheer you up more than seeing your short comedy up on stage at the esteemed Southwark Playhouse? As well being lots of fun, this is a serious opportunity to get your work seen in London, meet other theatre types and work with a director and actors. Oh, and they give each writer selected 50 quid too! You can get more details on their website, including information on their successful past performances!
