Applications for Oxford’s fringe festival ‘Offbeat’ are now open

After last year’s success, Oxford’s new fringe festival Offbeat is heading into its second year. Taking place in June 2017, this fringe festival will feature theatre, dance, comedy, music and spoken word never before seen in Oxfordshire.

Encouraging both upcoming and established artists locally and nationally to come forward and apply, festival partners Oxford Playhouse and Arts at the Old Fire Station aim to make sure that the festival is packed full of the best collaborations, new writing and current contemporary work the UK has to offer.

Highlights from last year’s festival include Katie Bonna’s All the Things I Lied About; Trygve Wakenshaw’s The Best of Trygve Wakenshaw; and Ross & Rachel from James Fritz, post a ‘Brits Off Broadway’ stint. Several shows went on to win critical acclaim at the 2016 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, making Offbeat the perfect opportunity to showcase works-in-progress, test new material and perform to new audiences in turn offering Oxford locals a chance to see some undiscovered gems.

Schedule:  Monday to Friday shows will be programmed in the spaces in the evening. Saturday and Sunday performances will be programmed in the daytime and evening. Shows will be programmed as one-off performances. We anticipate shows to be 60 minutes but we are happy to discuss shows of varying lengths.

Financial arrangement: Shows in Offbeat are on a box office split basis: 70/30 in your favour for the BT Studio, OFS Loft and Studio – and 60/40 in your favour in the OFS Theatre (with no box office fees). Ticket prices are set at £10 for the OFS Theatre and BT Studio, and £8 for the OFS Loft and OFS Studio, with a £5 ticket price for works in progress and family shows.
