The Writers Club is a unique club for playwrights, where writers come together to develop their scripts, learn, share and inspire. In association with Directors Cut Theatre Company.
Workshops are run by artistic director Heather Ward who has an MA in Theatre Directing, studied playwriting in her BA degree and was the co-artistic director of Writers Avenue.
When is it? Starting in March 2017. Sessions are fortnightly on Saturdays 11am-1pm or Monday evenings from 6pm-8pm at Calder Bookshop & Theatre, Waterloo, London.
How much? Membership is £75 a term (every 4 months).
What you get:
- Established playwrights within the industry will be hired to run workshops sharing their experience, tips and advice in script development and life as a writer within the theatre industry.
- Writers in The Writers Club will also receive guidance and feedback on what Heather Ward and dramaturg Jessica Mayne are looking for when choosing successful scripts for The Directors Club Showcase, in which writers are invited to apply.
- There will be opportunities to have your work read out by professional actors from The Actors Club at rehearsed readings Write to Right, and table readings where you will gain feedback in order to develop your work to its potential.
What to submit: Two samples of your work (no more than 10 minutes each).
