The Arcola Theatre along with London Metropolitan University are looking for three writers for their ‘Voices from the Future’ scheme. The chosen writers will attend a week of playwriting workshops led by a professional playwright culminating in developing a piece of new writing for performance at the Arcola this December.
During the workshop week, writers will explore the issues surrounding climate change, explore playwriting form and style, and also have access to some of the UKs leading experts in the field. On the final day of the week, writers will have opportunity to test out their ideas and gather further stimulus by going in to local primary schools where the Arcola will run creative workshops looking in to climate change. After this, writers will have three weeks to develop a short (15 to 30 minute) piece that deals with the real-world effects of climate change.
