Theatre Renegade’s Courting Drama programme promotes the work of four emerging directors and writers by creating new collaborations and presenting the subsequent work in the Bush Theatre’s Attic space once every four months. This time, they are looking for a new writer to have their work showcased as part of the programme.
*Please note: this opportunity is open to IdeasTap members only. You can sign up here. *
How it works: Theatre Renegade pairs up four writers with four directors. These duos then create a 20 minute piece of new writing which is performed at the Bush Theatre. For their next event, they are inviting submissions from writers to fill a fifth spot (usually reserved for work commissioned by Theatre Renegade, or pieces that they would like to try in front of an audience). Your piece of writing will be workshopped, and then showcased on Saturday 23 November 2013.
Additional information: Theatre Renegade is looking for a piece of about 12 to 20 minutes that is either an extract from a longer piece, or a self-contained short piece. The chosen piece will be worked through with Theatre Renegade’s dramaturg before the final performance. The length of the rehearsal period for your piece will be decided upon with Theatre Renegade’s dramaturg.
Theatre Renegade would like the chosen writer to be available to attend some rehearsals in London, dates to be decided by the director and writer, and to the show of Courting Drama itself.
The winner must be willing to travel to London at their own expense. Unfortunately, Theatre Renegade will not be able to pay any travel expenses.
How to apply: applications must be made through IdeasTap. Submissions are welcomed from writers 16 and over.
