This one day workshop, co-led by Tamasha’s Producer Alex Towers, Soho Theatre’s Producer David Luff* and Tamasha’s Artistic Director Fin Kennedy, will introduce some of the key principles of producing small scale theatre for fringe and studio venues.
Areas covered will include: fundraising (including Arts Council England’s Grants for the Arts), budgeting for shows of different scales, approaching venues and negotiating deals, managing the creative team, contracts, royalties and box office agreements.
“Participants are asked to come with one small scale theatre project they are interested in producing. The day will involve group discussions, small group breakout work with one of the three tutors, time to discuss your particular idea and a general Q&A where you can ask our professional team anything about starting to produce your own work. While we can’t promise to launch any careers, we do aim to leave participants with enough working knowledge to start to take steps towards making their show idea a reality.”
This is an entry-level workshop and anyone can apply, but the day will particularly suit emerging producers at the starts of their careers or, theatre artists seeking to self-produce their own work or the work of others. Please phone the office if you are unsure if this is for you or would like to talk it through.
This is open to producers and artists from all cultural backgrounds.
