Play Shuffle is an open door / open-mic remedy and an opportunity for producers, directors, writers and actors to meet each other and discover early work they might be interested in developing.
12 slots are available to writers and will be available to book at 12pm on Wednesday 16th October.
This is a fun open-mic like event for scenes from brand new / first draft plays. Managed on a first come, first served basis, writers, directors, producers and actors turn up on the night. The first writer gets to hear their work read by the first registered appropriate actors and so on whilst the rest of the attendees listen to the work. A cold read environment, actors come and stretch your sight-reading muscles whilst producers and directors test their ability to sniff out potential. Fast, furious and fun – come be part of the beginning of something.
How to apply: Places can be booked on the event’s Ideastap Page.
What to submit/bring: If you are successful in booking a writer slot at this event, then you will be expected to provide the facilitator with an excerpt of your work—that crucial scene, the roughest piece that needs to be heard or the few pages of dialogue on which you’re really stuck.
NB Readings of 3-5 minutes in length are recommended, with only 7 minutes/pages MAXIMUM allowed, to enable as many opportunities as possible. You will be required to bring enough copies of your scene to be read by the required number of actors, plus one copy for the facilitator on the night. Printing will not be available. Readings will be schedule on a first-come (on the day), first-served order, so please check in with the facilitator on arrival.
Deadline: None, though places filling fast!
