BBC Studios Drama Productions, the UK’s biggest drama production hub outside of London, have announced two new TalentWorks initiatives, offering training and development opportunities for writers and directors on the BAFTA-winning BBC medical drama Casualty.
The Writers’ Studio: Casualty is an open script call for screenwriting talent who are looking to take the next step in their writing career and join the ranks of the Casualty writing team. Ten writers will have the opportunity to write shadow scripts and up to four will be commissioned to write an episode.

The Casualty Directors’ Scheme is designed to give eight established directors the opportunity to learn how to bring the most exciting episodes of Casualty to life across two bootcamp weekends at the show’s home in Roath Lock, Cardiff. Up to four successful candidates will then be chosen to direct an episode, with the support of an established mentor director.
