Blowin’ A Hooley Theatre accepting submissions from female writers from the North East

Blowin’ a Hooley Theatre are looking for one exceptional new female writer from North East England to have their short play professionally produced.

The selected writer will receive £400 and their piece will be performed in ‘Yarns from Hyem’ – a collection of four North-East plays – alongside work by Julia Darling, Alex Oates and Elijah Young.

‘Yarns from Hyem’ champions regional talent and improves access to theatre for audiences and artists. Supported using public funding by Arts Council England, the production will tour to North East community and arts venues in March-April 2020.

The four plays will take audiences through the highs and lows of love, loss and hope.

Submission Criteria:

  • Aged 16+ and identify as female
  • From/based in the North East of England
  • Not had any writing professionally produced
  • Plays 15-20 minutes in length
  • 2 or 3 characters
