Curtis Brown Creative are excited to announce this scholarship enabling one writer to join them in London for their Writing An Original TV Drama Serial course (11 April to 1 August 2024).
One talented writer of colour with limited financial means will receive a fully paid place on this course, led by award-winning writer, producer and director Jamie Nuttgens. With weekly teaching and group workshopping on Thursday evenings in the Curtis Brown offices on Regent Street, this course will help you hone your craft and make real progress with your TV script. It’s ideal for those looking for a practical in-person alternative to a postgraduate screenwriting course.
In addition to the course place, the scholar will receive:
- Travel Stipend: The scholarship winner will be given a travel stipend (up to the value of £250) to contribute to the cost of traveling to attend classes in central London.
- Final Draft: The scholar will also receive a digital download of the latest version of the premier screenwriting software Final Draft (worth £181).
This scholarship is part of their Breakthrough Writers’ Programme, a major outreach programme which offers opportunities to under-represented writers. CBC are keen to promote diversity in their student groups and to enable talented writers to join their courses who they might not otherwise have heard from.
You don’t need a degree or any experience of the TV industry to apply for this scholarship: If you a have good idea, the desire to write television drama and to learn – and if you’re a writer of colour without the financial means to attend a Curtis Brown Creative course, this scholarship opportunity is for you!
